Preschool Program: Ms. Rita
Welcome to Preschool! I am looking forward to meeting all of the new children and welcoming you into our class. I am very excited to start the new school year and to implement some new ideas into this year’s program.
For those of you who don’t know me, let me tell you about myself. My name is Rita Truman and I am the Full Day Preschool Teacher. I began working at Country Dawn in 1992. During my time at Country Dawn I have worked in almost every room including the Preschool, Pre-Kindergarten, Enrichment, Infant, Summer Fun Programs and the Desk. Working with children in their wide range of developmental stages and areas has given me the experience necessary to understand and cater to each unique developmental stage. I continuously attended workshops and training seminars that help to further my education and also learn exciting new ideas to make our classroom and program even better. I am annually certified in CPR and maintain qualification in first aid. I have also just went back to school for my teaching degree.
I would like to tell you about my educational background and goals. I graduated from Granite Falls High School in 1992. After high school I attended Everett Community College where I studied early childhood education and development, and other general studies. I took some time off when I got married in 1996 to my husband Justin. In 2000 we had our son Nate. What a joy to our family he has been. I love to sit with a good book; I also enjoy camping, hiking, and just about any sport.
My goal will be to help your child learn and develop in all areas. I believe positive self-esteem is crucial to every child’s development. Initially, we will focus on making sure the children feel comfortable with their new environment, and ensuring that they have a strong positive self-image. Then social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development will be pursued while ensuring each child maintains his/her positive self-esteem. I have planned developmentally appropriate activities through which each child can be creative and expressive, and develop at his/her own unique level.
I am happy to announce that we will be having Spanish Class every Monday starting in late September. This allows us to enhance our teaching capabilities and to expand your child’s learning opportunities. The Sno-Isle Library representative visits us monthly, and we are privileged to have stories, puppets, and new library books provided to us each month. Happy Feet, a soccer activity is available on Wednesdays.
I am excited about the year ahead of us. Throughout the year we will be learning, growing, exploring, and having a great time in the process. Thank you for the opportunity to work with your children.
If you have any questions, concerns, or comments please do not hesitate to talk with me.
Preschool Program: Ms. Sarah
My name is Sarah Bliven and I will be working with your child as the lead teacher for the Preschool #2 Program! I am excited to help your child grow, learn and change throughout the year.
I grew up in Lake Stevens and began my schooling here at Country Dawn! After I graduated from Lake Stevens High School in 2011, I went on to study at Everett Community College and quickly transferred to The University of Washington. In 2016 I graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Health Studies and a minor in Education. My Health Studies Degree focused on families in communities, support for families in particularly difficult situations, and child welfare, which led me to a position with a local non-profit as a Family Support Supervisor.
While in college I worked at Country Dawn from 2015-2016 in the Older Toddler's Program, and took a brief leave of absence to finish up my schooling. In fall of 2017, I returned as an Assistant Teacher in the Pre-Toddler Program. I transitioned to the lead Toddler teacher in January 2018. I have completed my certification in CPR, First Aid and HIV/AIDS. I also have completed the STARS 30 hours training and various trainings including Autism Awareness, Positive Discipline and Building Strong Child Relationships. I am also in the process of obtaining a Masters Degree in Elementary Education through WGU.
When I am not at Country Dawn I enjoy being outdoors, crafting, traveling and quality family time. I am looking forward to enjoying this season of life with you and your family! If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out!
