Older Toddlers &

Dear Parents:

Welcome to Country Dawn’s Older Toddler program. I am Monica Juarez Cruz and I am the teacher responsible for planning and conducting the Older Toddler program. I will be working with your child/children daily so I will get to know them very well. They will also get to know me and my assistant Ms. Stephanie that will work by my side for the school year. So, I will like to tell you a little about myself.

I am a wife and mother of two daughters Sophia and Camila. I have lived in the area for almost 15 years after moving to the United States from Mexico where I was born and raised for 7 years. After graduating Lake Stevens High School in 2012 I started working at Country Dawn and been here ever since.  Here I have worked as a lead teacher for the school age children and have worked as Ms. Diane’s assistant for 3 years in Toddlers. I'm currently attending college to receive my CDA in early childhood.

I am excited to have the opportunity to teach the Older Toddler program. After assisting in the Toddler room, I feel prepared with a lot of experience with this age group and cannot wait for the year to start.

I have attended a lot of workshops and classes offered at Country Dawn over the years and have completed the Washington state STARS training program. The program consisted of twenty hours of classroom training, and covered health, child growth and development, safety and child guidance.  I am also currently CPR and First Aid certified. All the workshops and classes I attend further my knowledge, present new ideas, and enhance my expertise in caring for and teaching young children.

In the Older Toddler program my goal is for your child to grow and develop, academically, physically, socially, and emotionally, at his/her own pace while maintaining a good self-image. I am sure your child will have lots of fun and learn a great deal, as will I.

If you have any questions or concerns about the Older Toddler program or your children please do not hesitate to talk to me.

 Ms. Monica

Pre-Preschool Program: Ms. Jessie

Dear Parents:

My name is Jessica Schend and I am pleased to be the lead teacher in our Pre-preschool classroom. I am excited to get to know you and your child. It's going to be fun watching them learn and grow this year.

Here's a little about myself; I have a fiancé, Kris, and a beautiful daughter named Sadie, who attends Country Dawn. I was born and raised in Washington State. I graduated from Lake Stevens High School in 2014. I started working at Country Dawn in 2015 with a position as closing staff in the Pre-Preschool classroom. Next I worked in pre-toddlers and Preschool as an assistant teacher. I was offered the lead teacher position for Pre-Preschool and knew it was the one for me. I enjoy being part of their developmental growth and watching them go from toddlers to "big kids."

Since I started working at Country Dawn I have completed 30 hours of the Washington STARS training program, learning child health, growth, development and guidance . I plan on continuing with my STARS classes as well as attend college classes. I am currently enrolled in the Child Development Associate (CDA) program, at the Bellingham Technical College. I am hoping to finish in 2018. I am also CPR and First Aid certified.

I look forward to this year in Pre-Preschool, getting to know you and your child better.

Jessica Schend
