Infant Program: Ms. Rosie

Dear Parents,

My name is Rosie Pelayo and I am one of your child’s teachers this year. I have worked at Country Dawn for a couple years now, with infants to Pre-K children. Working with infants has always been more my passion, watching them learn and grow is something that I enjoy.  I have completed my 30 hours of STARS training and certification in CPR, First Aid & HIV/AIDS. I am twenty-one years old and am married with a toddler son. I was born in California and raised in Washington. I come from a family of two sisters and one brother with me being the youngest. I have two nieces and two nephews, who mean the world to me. I enjoy spending time with my family and enjoy being outdoors.
Our main goal at Country dawn in the infant program is to help your child on a number of skills throughout the year.  We will be working on tummy time, rolling over, sitting up, pulling up and eventually walking.  We like to get creative, on occasions we will have projects or an activity involving painting and coloring.  Throughout the day we will read books and sing songs.  As they start being more independent and moving around more on their own, during the spring and summer we have outside play, weather permitting. When this time comes around we will send home a sunscreen form for each child. We play an array of nursery rhyme music as well as music from different cultures to incorporate diversity in the classroom.  Once a month, a consulting nurse comes to our classroom to visit with us and answer any staff and/or parent questions. She also updates us on illness, child development, and other current information regarding your child’s health. If there are any specific details or goals you would like us to work on with your child, please feel free to talk to us.
CDC Assessments are provided to families each fall and spring. Teacher Parent Conferences start in the Preschool Classrooms, however a conference is provided to any of our families when requested. Country Dawn also participates in Early Achievers, which is Washington’s Quality Rating and Improvement System. (www.del.wa.gov)
I look forward to meeting and getting to know you and your child in the infant room.
Sincerely,
Rosie Pelayo
