Older Toddlers &
Older Toddler Program: Ms. Jenny
Welcome to Country Dawn’s Older Toddler Program. I am Jenny Kendrick and I am the Teacher responsible for planning and conducting the Older Toddler Program this fall. I will be working with your child/children daily so I will get to know them very well, and they will get to know me. So, I would like to tell you a little about myself.
When I was growing up, my Mother operated an in-home childcare, and I helped out every day after school. I always enjoyed helping with the children, and I knew that someday I would work with children as a career.
I have lived in this area all of my life, and I have a 20 year old son. I graduated from Snohomish High School in 1992, and while I attended Snohomish High I took courses in early childhood development and preschool education. After graduation in June of 1992 I was hired here at Country Dawn. I worked as a Pre-School Aide, and an Older Toddler Aide. In November of 1992 I became Co-Teacher in the Older Toddler Program where I shared the Teacher’s responsibilities with Ann Lloyd for almost five years. In March 1997 the “Older Toddler Program” was split into the “Pre-Preschool Program “ and the “new Older Toddler Program”. In 2000 I became one of the Pre-Preschool Teachers.
I am excited to once again have the opportunity to teach the Older Toddler Programs. After teaching Pre-Preschool for 2 years I will be starting my 20th year as an Older Toddler Teacher. I feel I have a lot of experience with this age group and cannot wait for the year to start. This is my favorite age group.
I have attended many workshops and seminars offered at Country Dawn over the years such as earthquake preparedness, food handlers, etc. I have also completed Washington State’s STARS training program. The program consisted of twenty hours of classroom training, and covered health, child growth and development, safety, and child guidance. The information presented gave me many new ideas that I can apply to my class. Pursuant to Country Dawn’s requirements I am currently CPR and First Aid certified. All the workshops, seminars, and classes I attend further my knowledge, present new ideas, and enhance my expertise in caring for and teaching young children.
In the Older Toddler Program my goal is for your child to grow and develop, academically, physically, socially, and emotionally, at his/her own pace while maintaining a good self-image. I am sure your child will have lots of fun and learn a great deal, as will I.
If you have any questions or concerns about the Older Toddler Program or your child please do not hesitate to talk with me.
Welcome to the Pre-Preschool Program. My name is Susie Lopez, I am pleased to say I am the new lead teacher and excited to be teaching your child this fall. I have been working at Country Dawn for the past year. I enjoy helping and teaching children and to see them progress in their skills makes me feel wonderful. I look forward to having an educational, fun and exciting year.
I am originally from Los Angeles, Ca. I moved up to Lake Stevens last year in June because I reconnected with my first boyfriend from junior high and we quickly got married so here I amJ. My husband’s name is Gerry and I have a beautiful stepdaughter who is 12 years old.
In the 1990’s I began going to college working towards a teaching degree and worked with children for many years as a camp counselor, a teacher’s assistant for the Los Angeles School District, and for Warner Brothers Childcare. However, my career path took me a different route and I obtained my Associates Degree in Liberal Arts and Science from Los Angeles Valley College and my BA in Journalism/Public Relations from Cal State Northridge. Although, most of my work experience has been in the office field, I always knew I would one day return back to working with children. In 2013, I worked as a Nanny for 1 year. In 2014, I went back to school and earned 13 credits in Early Child Development and began volunteering in two different Pre-School classrooms at Reseda Elementary School in CA. In 2015, I re-enrolled back at Cal State University for the Early Education Special Ed Program to work towards my teaching certificate. I have also completed the 30 hours STARS training and am certified in CPR, AED, and First Aid.
I enjoy working at Country Dawn and could not be more excited about my new role in the Pre-Preschool Program this fall. My main goal for the children is to ensure they feel welcomed in the classroom. During the next several weeks students will be getting to know each other, their new schedule and rules. The Program I have planned will allow each child to learn and grow in a fun and nurturing environment. The children will develop socially, mentally and physically through play and fun filled age appropriate activities. I am sure that your child will learn a lot and have a great deal of fun as will I.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to talk with me. I am looking forward to a great year and seeing you and your child in the fall.
